Although not nearly as famous as Chelsea, the Upper East Side art district has a huge number of galleries, as well as museums and cultural institutes. Let's check out some of them.
We will view and discuss 5 to 8 pre-selected exhibits in a variety of media, with an exclusive presentation by a staffer or artist at most stops.
One of the places we will visit is the Asia Society. This museum costs $10-$15, which is NOT included in the fee for this event. Various discounts are available (at asiasociety.org) for seniors, students, military, and others. However, the best deal is FREE admission through Culture Pass (culturepass.nyc).

Culture Pass Info:
- If you are even thinking about attending this event, reserve your Culture Pass for November 2 ASAP before the supply for that date runs out. There are instructions on their website for cancelling without penalty if you change your mind.
- All you need to make your online reservation is a New York, Brooklyn or Queens Public Library card, which you can get very quickly (in my case, about two minutes) by showing proof of identity and address at any branch.
- Applying for the library card online is not recommended because of the possible mail delay.
- If you absolutely cannot get a Culture Pass, try emailing me at [email protected], as I may have a very limited number of guest passes.

This must be done BEFORE the listed start time so that the group does not get stuck waiting for you. Alternatively, you can send someone in your place; at check-in, simply have him or her mention the name under which you paid.
- Sorry, no refunds unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled.
- Please remember to bring a mask, proof of COVID vaccination, and photo ID, as these may still be required by some galleries.
- The event will last two to three hours. Afterward, we may go somewhere nearby for drinks, food, and socializing if there is interest.
- Art novices are welcome, as are people with extensive art backgrounds.
